Sixers' Joel Embiid give update about surgery

Sixers center posts a photo of himself after surgery on Instagram.

JOEL EMBIID posted a photo to his Instagram account indicating surgery was successful for the Sixers center yesterday.

"Everything went really well . . . " he wrote. "Excited for the future."

In a statement, Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie said the surgery took place at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Dr. Martin O'Malley, the associate attending orthopedic surgeon at the hospital, said the procedure lasted approximately three hours and there were "no complications.''

Last month, the Daily News reported that, according to two sources, Embiid had rebroken the navicular bone in his foot, which was the reason for the second surgery and why the team announced he would be sidelined for the upcoming season.
