Sixers Notes: Sixers trade Davies for Nets' Kirilenko, draft pick

ATLANTA - The 76ers will acquire Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko and a second-round draft pick in exchange for Brandon Davies. The deal will become official Thursday.

Yahoo Sports first reported the trade Wednesday night. Several sources confirmed the report to The Inquirer.

The Sixers are expected to waive Kirilenko and his $3.1 million contract, according to a source. The deal spares the Nets $12 million in luxury taxes.

In addition to Kirilenko and a 2020 second-round pick, the Sixers also received cash and the right to swap second-round picks with Brooklyn in 2018, according to the report.

Kirilenko, a 13-year veteran, returned to practice Dec. 2 after being away from the Nets for personal reasons. The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Russian is averaging just 5.1 minutes per game.

When asked after his team's 95-79 loss to Atlanta what he could say about the trade, Sixers coach Brett Brown said: "Not a lot. I'm aware of the rumblings. I think more will be revealed real soon, but really not that much."

The 6-10, 240-pound Davies was held out of Wednesday's game.

"I was aware that his name was a part of it," Brown said. "And I spoke to him before the game, and told him that, and said I wasn't going to be able to play him tonight and risk things that were moving."

The Sixers are in the midst of playing 11 of 15 games on the road.

Typically, that's a tough task for NBA teams - especially a young squad like the Sixers. But Michael Carter-Williams sees it as a positive.

"I think it's good that we travel together and spend some time together," the second-year point guard said. "Experience in the road games and the adversity that we are going to have to go through on the road and how we respond, that's good."
