Young may be playing in his final game with Sixers

MIAMI - Will Wednesday's game be Thaddeus Young's last as a 76er? Young doesn't know. "I'm absolutely certain that this could be the last game, or it could be one of many," the power forward said of the regular-season finale in Miami against the Heat.

MIAMI - Will Wednesday's game be Thaddeus Young's last as a 76er?

Young doesn't know.

"I'm absolutely certain that this could be the last game, or it could be one of many," the power forward said of the regular-season finale in Miami against the Heat.

The seventh-year veteran added that he will remain a Sixer as long as the franchise wants him and he is under contract.

"But other than that, it's a long summer," Young said of potential offseason moves. "There are a lot of topics that go on throughout the summer. A lot of exactly seeing what cards are being played during the course of the summer.

"Like I said, I'm still a Philadelphia 76er until the day they decide to get rid of me or the day they don't want to extend me."

Young, 25, will try to get a sense of his future with the team during Thursday's exit interview.

The Sixers (18-63) publicly have expressed their desire to build around Young and rookies Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel. However, it's no secret that Young wants to play for a contender and wasn't thrilled that the Sixers tanked this season.

For now, his immediate goal is to fly to his hometown of Memphis with his family Thursday afternoon. He will go on a European vacation to get his mind off what he called the toughest season of his career.

"I'm going to do some touring of Greece, Italy, Paris, England," Young said.

He is slated to make about $9.1 million next season and has a player option worth a little less than $9.8 million with the Sixers for the 2015-16 campaign.

Fearful that he will turn down the player option, the Sixers could try to trade Young this summer. That would enable them to get something in return.

"It has been a tough year, but I made it through," Young said. "That's the biggest thing, just making it through and continuing to stay the course, continuing to stay the path, and continue to grow as a player."

This season was also a huge learning experience for him, one he wouldn't wish on anyone.

"I learned that I can get through anything," Young said. "If I got through this, I can get through anything."
