'I'm not a loser,' Turner says

Evan Turner made one thing clear Monday night: He has no interest in losing. The veteran swingman was asked how he'll deal with a losing 76ers season after Monday's 127-97 preseason setback to the Brooklyn Nets at the Wells Fargo Center. The Sixers are expected to have similar outcomes during the regular season as they line themselves up for a high draft pick.

But Turner doesn't see it that way.

"I don't think we're going down," he told several reporters. "I never woke up and thought I was going to be unsuccessful in my life.

"Pretty much, my teammates and I are going to go out there and play every single game and play hard and take it from there."

The 6-foot-7 Turner added that there are personal and team successes.

"I'm not a loser. Period. Point blank," he said. "So I'm not going to sit here and dwell on it. Period."

This could be Turner's last season in Philadelphia. The Chicago native is entering the fourth and final year of his rookie contract. The Sixers have until Oct. 31 to sign him to a contract extension.

Turner expected to be traded this summer. And there's a thought that the Sixers could try to trade him this season.

Turner said Monday that his agent, David Falk, has not discussed an extension with the team.

"I'm not upset about it," he said. "I know what type of player I'm going to be. I know who I am and I know what I've done.

"Obviously, we have a different situation."

Gone are coach Doug Collins, general manager Tony DiLeo, and team president Rod Thorn. Added were coach Brett Brown, general manager Sam Hinkie, and chief executive officer Scott O'Neil.

Turner averaged a career-best 13.3 points last season and was the only Sixer to start all 82 games. He scored a game-high 23 points in Monday night's setback. Turner is averaging 19.8 points through four preseason games.

A stake in soccer

Sixers minority owner Erick Thohir led an Indonesian investment group that bought a 70 percent stake in Inter Milan, the Italian soccer team, reportedly for $475 million.

Thohir is also part-owner of D.C. United of Major League Soccer.
