Markieff Morris to work out for Sixers

In 8 short days the future of the 76ers could take a decided turn.

Before the NBA draft next Thursday the Sixers could move a player or more and totally revamp their roster, or they could stand pat, make their picks at Nos. 16 and 50, and move from there.

Today at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, five more potential draft picks will work out for the team's brass.

Scheduled to come in are Markieff Morris, from Kansas, UCLA's Tyler Honeycutt, Eniel Polynice of Seton Hall, Xavier Silas from Northern Illinois and Villanova's Antonio Pena.

Many mock drafts predict the Sixers will grab Morris, the twin brother of fellow Kansas star Marcus. Markieff, who measured at 6-9 and 241 pounds at the rookie combine last month in Chicago, is a fierce inside presence who is able to step outside and make shots.

Markieff, who grew up in North Philly and attended Prep Charter with his brother, talked in Chicago about his excitement at potentially playing for his hometown team. His physicality, desire to rebound and overall athleticism make him an attractive player for the Sixers.

Honeycutt, a 6-8 shooting guard/small forward, is a terrific athlete who also likes to rebound. Should the Sixers' roster stand pat for now, he really doesn't seem to fit into the scheme of things as the team is already full of athletic wing players, including Andre Iguodala, Thaddeus Young and Evan Turner. Honeycutt is painfully skinny at 187 pounds, but is seen as a late first-round pick.

Polynice, Silas and Pena aren't on many lists to be drafted.
