Iguodala to miss Sunday's game

The 76ers will be without swingman Andre Iguodala for Sunday afternoon's game against the New York Knicks.

Iguodala, who missed the second half of Friday night's 123-116 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, underwent an MRI on Saturday that revealed tendinitis in his right Achilles tendon.

The Sixers listed Iguodala as day-to-day but said he will miss Sunday's game to rest the injury. Forward Andres Nocioni, who had an MRI on his injured left ankle, likely will be available against the Knicks in New York.

Neither player practiced Saturday.

Iguodala's injury ends his string of 252 consecutive games played, dating from the 2007-08 season. Through six games this season, Iguodala is averaging 13.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game.

Without Iguodala, Sixers coach Doug Collins likely will use a starting backcourt of second-year point guard Jrue Holiday and rookie Evan Turner.

It will be Turner's first career start.

The Sixers enter Sunday's game with a record of 1-5, while the Knicks are 3-2.

After Friday's loss to Cleveland, Collins said he believed Iguodala initially aggravated the Achilles in a game against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday and then strained the injury during the first half against the Cavaliers.

Nocioni suffered his ankle injury in the second half against Cleveland, but he said the injury wasn't serious.
