Jrue Holiday ruled out for tonight's game vs. Mavericks

UPDATE (8:05 p.m.): The Sixers announced via Twitter that guard Jrue Holiday will not play tonight due to a left foot sprain against the Dallas Mavericks.

From earlier: DALLAS - Jrue Holiday remains a game-time decision for the 76ers game today against the Dallas Mavericks.

Holiday said that when he woke up this morning the sprained left foot that has forced him out of the team's last two games was sore. Before the team boarded their charter to Dallas on Monday, Holiday spent about 20-25 minutes working with assistant coach Aaron McKie on shooting drills and did some light running. Afterward Holiday said he felt fine.

He had hoped to wake up pain-free this morning. However, that was not the case.

"It was a little bit worse than it was yesterday," Holiday said. "It (hurts) more so when I try to plant and make cuts. Dribbling, planting and trying to go in different directions is when it bothers me."

Holiday still said he was a game-time decision, so he will head back to the team hotel and hopefully in a few hours when they Sixers arrive at the arena he'll be able to play.

That decision, however, won't be made by Holiday. That decision is up to team trainer Kevin Johnson.

"It (the decision to play) is in the trainer's hands," Holiday said, referring to head athletic trainer Kevin Johnson. "Obviously I can go out there and get hurt and never be better. But the trainers take their jobs very seriously. That's what they're here for."
