RECAP: The Yankees had two on with no out in the top of the first, but Jim Konstanty got Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio and Johnny Mize (future Hall of Famers all) to get out of the inning.

Bobby Brown opened the fourth inning with a double, went to second on a fly ball and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jerry Coleman .

Vic Raschi, who allowed just three base-runners, retired the first 13 batters of the game, as well as the last 11.

WP: Allie Reynolds. LP: Robin Roberts.

HR: Joe DiMaggio.

RECAP: Richie Ashburn 's fifth-inning sacrifice fly answered Gene Woodling 's second-inning RBI single.

Joe DiMaggio launched one into the upper deck in leftfield to lead off the top of the 10th and Allie Reynolds retired Ashburn and Dick Sisler with the tying run on second in the bottom half.

Game 3

Friday, Oct. 6, 1950/At Yankee Stadium

WP: Tom Ferrick. LP: Russ Meyer.

HR: None.

RECAP: The Phillies used RBI singles by Dick Sisler in the sixth inning and Mike Goliat in the seventh to take a 2-1 lead, their first of the series.

But Jerry Coleman scored on an error in the eighth inning and singled home Gene Woodling in the ninth for the walk-off victory.

The Phillies had runners on first and third with one out in the top of the ninth, but failed to score.

WP: Whitey Ford. LP: Bob Miller.

HR: Yogi Berra.

RECAP: Yogi Berra had an RBI single and scored on a Joe DiMaggio double in the first inning and homered leading off the Yankees' three-run sixth inning.

The Phillies plated two in the top of the ninth and got the tying run to home plate, but Allie Reynolds struck out Stan Lopata to end the game and give New York its 13th World Series title.
