Phillies Minor League Report: Lehigh wins in 12 innings

Here's how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Friday, June 12:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A (22-41)

Lehigh did their best Reading impression on Friday night, taking a 1-0 victory from Norfolk in 14 innings. This one did not have much action whatsoever, as there were just 16 total hits in 14 innings of action. Norfolk had 10 of those hits but were 0-for-15 with men in scoring position.

Jordan Danks came up with the RBI double in the top of the 14th off Pat McCoy that proved to be the winning, and only run of the night.

Adam Morgan did a good job in his start, throwing six innings of scoreless baseball, giving up just six hits. He walked three and struck out one in his no-decision.

Norfolk and Lehigh are back in action on Saturday night at 7:05.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double-A (33-27)

The Fightin Phils must have been thinking, "not again." After playing 18 innings last night, with first baseman Brock Stassi getting the win in relief, Reading went to extra innings again, this time with Akron. The odds were not in their favor Friday night, falling 12-11 in 12 innings.

Akron scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning off Lee Ridenhour to send the game to extra innings. The RubberDucks scored two in the top of the 12th. Reading tried to muster a rally, but fell one run short.

Tom Windle got the start for Reading and got roughed up a bit. He gave up five runs on eight hits in six innings of work. His ERA has swelled to 4.82 on the year.

Brodie Green was the star at the plate for the Fightin Phils. He was 4-for-5 from the plate. He walked twice and accounted for four runs.

Reading and Akron continue their series at 6:35 on Saturday evening.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced (30-30)

Clearwater and Brevard County's game was postponed due to rain. They will try again on Saturday night with a doubleheader starting at 5:00.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A (30-28)

Lakewood and Hagerstown were involved in a barnburner, with Lakewood just edging out the home team, 8-7. The BlueClaws entered the ninth with a 7-6 lead and added an insurance run. They would need it as the Suns also scored in the ninth, but could not push the tying run across to send it to extras.

Malquin Canelo delivered the blast in the top of the ninth that ended up giving the BlueClaws the win. He was 2-for-4 on the night with a triple, the homer and three RBI's.

Lakewood and Hagerstown are back in action at 7:05 on Saturday night.
