Phillies Minor League Report: Aumont walks eight, still gets a win

Here's how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Saturday, May 23:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

Phillippe Aumont walked eight batters in his start on Saturday night, but still managed to earn a win in the IronPigs 9-5 victory over the Charlotte Knights. Aumont went just five innings, gave up two earned runs and walked eight to improve to 2-1 on the season. His ERA is just 1.64 on the season.

Jordan Danks racked up three hits in his four at bats, driving in a run and scoring one himself in the win. Brian Bogusevic hit a grand glam in the fourth inning that would prove to decide the game. He was just 1-for-3 at the plate, but the one netted four runs.

Lehigh finishes its series with Charlotte on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double-A

The Fightin Phils got to play a pair of games on Saturday against Portland, making up for a game that was rained out in early April. The teams split the two games, Reading taking the first and dropping the second.

In the first game, Tom Windle got his first win of the season. He went five innings and gave up two runs in the 3-2 Fightins victory. Gabriel Lino led the way offensively going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

In the second game, Reading could not get things going offensively, scoring just one run in a 2-1 loss. Reinier Roibal got the start, throwing four innings and giving up just one run. Holby Milner came in for Roibal in relief and gave up another run, which was enough for Portland to take the nightcap.

Portland and Reading continue their series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

Clearwater scored two runs in the first inning and held off Palm Beach the rest of the way ti botch a 3-1 on Saturday. Brandon Leibrandt went six innings and gave up just one run on six hits to earn his fifth win of the season. He struck out five in the outing.

J.P. Crawford went 1-for-2 on the day with a base on balls. He stole second base both times he got on. He is now hitting .400 on the season. Andrew Knapp, Aaron Brown and Aneglo Mora accounted for the three runs batted in on the day.

Clearwater finishes its series with Palm Beach on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

Herlis Rodriguez drove in the go-ahead run on a bunt single in the sixth inning, and Lakewood did not look back in its 4-2 win over Greensboro on Saturday afternoon. Rodriguez was one of five BlueClaws who had multiple hits on the day.

Elniery Garcia allowed just two runs over five innings, but could only escape with a no decision. Jason Zgardowski got the win after pitching a scoreless sixth in which Rodriguez drove in what would be the game winning run in the bottom half of the inning.

Lakewood finishes its series with Greensboro on Sunday night at 7:05 p.m.
