F*#K NO - he should be handing out gatorade to the guys that come back in from the field. he just could be the worst lead-off hitter in the national league - maybe both leagues. poor choice to resign him.

Jelly'sOLD is the worst lead-off hitter in baseball. Maybe a 7 hitter, but not even an 8 hitter since he NEVER walks. Very poor resigning. Too bad his contract is so high or they might just be able to trade him later this summer.

NO! Dykstra should be leading off!! ..Now , if you think that last statement was a joke or pathetic...then you understand why Rollins shouldn't be leading off! PLAYERS GET OLD. When players get old, their talent erodes. If it didn't...DYKSTRA would be leading off and hitting in front of Manny Trillo and Mike Schmitt!! I swear...how dumb is Uncle Chollie and RAJ?

I would have Victorino leading off and hit J-Roll in the 6 hole. A possibility is Galvis when he returns. I know he does not walk enough and is just learning to hit big-league pitching but, the way the team is playing what's the real difference between leading off and hitting 7 or 8?

My eight year old son calls him Jimmy pop-up. Instead of being leaders when the team needs leadership from established veterans both he and Victorino are no where to be found. The Phils only need to stay close in the race until hopefully the team can get healthy, but theses two guys have come up small! No leadership at a

He has never been a good lead-off man. From Day One of his career, he has been trying to top the numbers Ricky Henderson put up. OK, it's 13 years later, and he is nowhere near Ricky's numbers on anything. He doesn't take walks. He still thinks he can hit the letter-high fastball. Oh, and now he has added something new to his repertoire -- swinging at down-and-in curveballs in the dirt. Jimmy has absolutely no plate discipline or pitch recognition. It seems like everyopne except Chooch suffers from this malady. What does Sarge preach? Low fastballs and high breaking balls, not the other way around. I see our line-up letting a lot of very hittable go by, while they swing at unhittable ones. The opposition knows the Phils' approach at the plate and the Phils have never adapted to it. How about looking for an off-speed pitch 2-0 or 3-1? How about moving up in the batter's box when facing a finesse pitcher? How about trying yo hit the ball up the middle (which every hitting coach seems to profess as the best way to get out of a slump)? The definiftion of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result. STOP THE INSANITY!!!!!

James Rollins, JPOP, JSTROLL, is what JROLL is now. First-ball Swingers are not the consummate Lead-off hitters. His spark extinguished, the ego apparent, Jimmy has a $10mil glove, and that's all folks. Meet Mr.JJOKE at the top of the order. I really thought he was OUR LEADER. I guess when you have that kind of money you don't have to man-up.

Bob Ford is delusional. Jimmy Rollins never was and never can be Ricky Henderson. I lived in Berkeley and saw a lot of A's games a season ticket holder and the comparison just does not hold. Love Rollins but he is not a leader on this tea and the money they spent would have been better spent elsewhere like a Beltran. Galvis is proving to be as good as Rollins in every aspect of the game so far.
