CLEARWATER, Fla. - Boston's Jon Lester kept Phillies' hitters off-balance most of the day in a sharp seven-inning outing, leading the Red Sox to a 6-0 win at Bright House Field.

Lester gave up just two hits - a single to Luis Montanez followed by a double down the line to Freddy Galvis in the third inning.

But Montanez was thrown out at the plate on what turned out to be the Phils' only real chance off Lester.

The Boston lefty, who will start Opening Day against Detroit, struck out 10 and allowed no walks.

Phillies starter Joe Blanton wiggled off the hook here and there, but was reached for five runs in his five innings. He gave up home runs to Dustin Pedroia, to right field, and Cody Ross, to left.

After Pedroia's homer put the Red Sox ahead 1-0 in the first inning, Blanton gave up inning-opening hits to Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Ryan Sweeney in the second.

Saltalamacchia scored on a botched double play exchange between Jimmy Rollins and Freddy Galvis to make it 2-0.

Blanton gave his final three runs in the fifth, on a David Ortiz RBI single and Ross' no-doubt homer.

Pete Orr picked up the Phillies' only other hit, a single off Ross Ohlendorf in the ninth inning.

The Phils are back at it Tuesday against the Pirates with Cliff Lee on the mound. Game time at Bright House Field is 1:05 p.m.
