Phillies' Schierholtz lands on disabled list

The Phillies have placed outfielder Nate Schierholtz on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured toe, the team announced Monday.

The Phillies have placed outfielder Nate Schierholtz on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured toe, the team announced Monday.

The team recalled infielder Hector Luna from triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his place on the roster. Luna is expected to be available to play in Monday night's game against the Marlins in Miami.

Schierholtz, acquired from the Giants in the trade that sent Hunter Pence to San Francisco on July 31, suffered the injury to his right big toe during his only at-bat in Sunday's 8-7 win over the Cardinals.

Schierholtz is hitting .219 with one home run and two RBI in 11 games since joining the Phillies.
