Phillies trade for veteran reliever Casey Fien
Fien, who will report to triple-A Leigh Valley, has a career 4.29 ERA in parts of eight seasons with four different MLB clubs.
The Phillies found a trade match with the Mariners, in town for two days, in a minor deal that sent them veteran reliever Casey Fien in a cash exchange.
Fien, 33, will go to triple-A Lehigh Valley.
He appeared in six games earlier this season for Seattle and pitched to a 15.00 ERA before being removed from the 40-man roster and demoted to the minors. Fien has a career 4.29 ERA in parts of eight seasons with four different clubs.
The righthander joins a crowded triple-A bullpen that includes Luis Garcia, Colton Murray, Michael Mariot, Adam Morgan, Pat Venditte, Cesar Ramos, Hoby Milner and Pedro Beato.
Fien, last December, signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal with Seattle.
