John Kruk taken from Dodger Stadium on stretcher, reports say

Former Phillie and current ESPN broadcaster John Kruk was taken from Dodger Stadium in California on a stretcher prior to a Sunday night baseball game, according to reports.

He suffered from dehydration after he felt "a little under the weather," broadcast partner Dan Schulman said at the opening of the ESPN broadcast for the Dodgers-Red Sox game, USA Today reported.

Boston Globe beat writer Pete Abraham tweeted shortly after 7:30 that "ESPN's John Kruk was just taken from the press box at Dodger Stadium on a stretcher. He was conscious."

ESPN then released a statement, according to CBS Sports, saying, "John left the booth feeling dizzy and was diagnosed as being dehydrated. His vital signs are stable."

Kruk, a career .300 hitter, enjoyed his best years during a six-year run in Philadelphia during the early 1990s. He has worked as an analyst for ESPN's Baseball Tonight for several years and more recently began broadcasting Sunday Night Baseball games for the sports channel.
