As expected, the Phillies have activated second baseman Chase Utley before tonight's game against the Pirates. He is in manager Charlie Manuel's lineup, and will bat in his customary spot in the 3-hole.

Utley began the season on the disabled list with bilateral chondromalacia. In 103 games last season, he hit .259 with 11 homers and 44 RBIs.

"My legs are the key," he told reporters Tuesday after going 2-for-5 with a home run in a rehab appearance with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. "I didn't have a lot of leg strength last year. They feel better now."

To make room on the 25-man roster, the Phillies optioned infielder Michael Martinez to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The Phillies host the Pirates tonight at 7:05 p.m. Here is the complete Phillies lineup:

1. Jimmy Rollins, SS

2. Juan Pierre, LF

3. Chase Utley, 2B

4. Carlos Ruiz, C

5. Hunter Pence, RF

6. Shane Victorino, CF
