Madson, who has been on the disabled list with a bruised right hand since June 28, faced four batters in the first inning of the Threshers' 10-2 loss.

At the Triple A All-Star Game in Salt Lake City, the International League defeated the Pacific Coast League, 3-0. Catcher Erik Kratz and pitchers Mike Zagurski and Michael Schwimer, of Lehigh Valley, were on the International team. Kratz went 0-for-2. Schwimer pitched two-thirds of the eighth inning and Zagurski pitched to two batters in the ninth.

At the Class AA All-Star Game in Manchester, N.H., the West defeated the East, 8-3. Reading had three players on the East. Michael Spidale, a leftfielder, was 1-for-3. Matt Rizzotti, the designated hitter, was 0-for-4. Austin Hyatt, a righthander, worked a scoreless inning.
