Phillies finalize roster

The Phillies have finalized their Opening Day roster following today's exhibition game against Pittsburgh with a series of transactions:

The Phillies have finalized their Opening Day roster following today's exhibition game against Pittsburgh with a series of transactions:

* Infielder Pete Orr had his contract selected.

* Infielder Delwyn Young and catcher Erik Kratz were reassigned to the minor leagues

* Infielders Chase Utley (right knee tendinitis) and Brian Bocock (left pisiform fracture), outfielder Domonic Brown (right hamate fracture) and righ-hander Brian Schlitter (right flexor pronator strain) were placed on the disabled list, retroactive to March 22; righthander Brad Lidge (right posterior rotator cuff strain) was also placed on the disabled list, retroactive to March 25.

The Opening Day roster includes 12 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders and five outfielders.

Pitchers: Righthanders Danys Baez, Joe Blanton, Jose Contreras, Roy Halladay, David Herndon, Kyle Kendrick, Ryan Madson and Roy Oswalt and lefthanders Antonio Bastardo, Cole Hamels, Cliff Lee and J.C. Romero.

Catchers: Carlos Ruiz and Brian Schneider.

Infielders: Ryan Howard, Michael Martinez, Pete Orr, Placido Polanco, Jimmy Rollins and Wilson Valdez.

Outfielders: Ben Francisco, Ross Gload, Raúl Ibañez, John Mayberry Jr. and Shane Victorino.
