Inqlings: Which one will cut the mustard?

In Boston, Red Sox fans buy Fenway Franks. In L.A., those two or three Dodgers fans eat Dodger Dogs. This year, the Phillies will offer a signature hot dog at Citizens Bank Park, and Aramark, the concessionaire, is putting three varieties up to a fan vote.

What'll it be? The South Philly, an all-beef topped with broccoli rabe, spicy roasted peppers, and sharp provolone on an Italian roll? The Olde Philadelphia, with pepper hash, dill pickle, and yellow mustard on a poppy-seed roll? Or the Citizens Bank Park Summer Hot Dog, which has cucumbers, pickled onion salsa, and ancho pepper sauce on a pretzel roll?

The poll goes online tomorrow at phillies.com, and Aramark will serve free samples before the April 2 and 3 exhibition games at the ballpark. (The three dogs will be cut into thirds until the first pitch; after that, test dogs will be sold for $5.75 each or three for $15.) The wiener will be announced by the home opener April 12.

New role for Gudel

After 121/2 years, Leslie Gudel, one of Comcast SportsNet's original anchors and the first full-time female sports anchor in town, will leave the desk Tuesday. She's stepping into a new role as Phillies reporter, effective with the end of her contract. Gudel and SportsNet call this a win-win, and it might be a win-win-win. Gudel, 43, says she's been juggling two other full-time jobs besides CSN: raising kids ages 6 and 4 and running her company, Nap Nanny, which makes and sells a reclining seat for babies. (New owner of a Nap Nanny seat is Caleb Hamels, 51/2-month-old son of Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels and wife Heidi, whom Gudel interviewed for the Phillies Focus show on at 10:30 p.m. today.) "This will put more balance into my life, and allow me to put more focus into the things that need to get focus," says Gudel, who - backing new hire Jim Salisbury - will work most home games, plus opening day in Washington. In fact, she's scheduled Nap Nanny visits to stores in the D.C. area around then.

Ready for his close-up

Bradley Cooper will be in his hometown next month to film the thriller The Dark Fields with Robert De Niro. But first, filmmakers had to do hair and makeup tests on the Rydal-raised Hangover and Wedding Crashers star. On Thursday, Cooper visited Philadelphia Soundstages at Fifth and Oxford Streets in North Philly, which also hosts production company Invincible Pictures and is the city's only real soundstage. Cooper went through the drill and was accompanied by actress girlfriend Renée Zellweger and his pooch Charlotte, a fluffy chow-retriever mix. Zellweger, who got her hair styled while Cooper was under the lights, was all sweetness and light to those assembled, including owners Kevon Glickman, Tom Ashley, Brad Heffler, and David Sabag. The Dark Fields, also featuring Aussie actress Abbie Cornish, will shoot in New York City for nine days starting March 29 before the production moves to various locations in Philly. Among them will be the Marathon Grill at 1818 Market St., which will close for one Monday next month.

Smits due here soon

Garza is the title of the NBC pilot starring Jimmy Smits (L.A. Law, NYPD Blue, The West Wing), which will be shot here this week. Smits plays a Supreme Court justice who goes into private practice in this drama from Conan O'Brien's production company, Conaco, and writer/producer John Eisendrath.

Restaurant report

Serafina, a high-profile Italian restaurant collection in Manhattan, inked a deal last week to occupy two floors at the luxury high-rise 10 Rittenhouse at 18th and Sansom Streets; opening is up for this fall. (More about this in my "Table Talk" column in Thursday's Food section.)

El Rey is the name of Stephen Starr's next Philly restaurant. It's expected to open late next month at 2013 Chestnut St. Space was the sad-sack Midtown IV diner, and Starr is dropping mucho dinero to turn it into a sad-sack Mexican bar decorated with knickknacks bought at flea markets in Southern California and Mexico. Chef Dionicio Jimenez won raves at his previous stop, Xochitl.

Have a nice day

Jon Bon Jovi is making good on his two-year-old promise to play a free concert celebrating the Philadelphia Soul's Arena Football League championship. Bon Jovi was an investor in the Philly franchise of the league, now in legal limbo. The show will be Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Wachovia Center before the second of two sold-out Bon Jovi concerts. Tickets were offered first to season-ticket holders; the rest are being given out via WMMR-FM (93.3, wmmr.com), which will broadcast and Web-stream the concert for those who don't get in. Bon Jovi made the promise before the Soul's 2008 season on WMMR's Preston & Steve show.

Briefly noted

WIOQ-FM (102.1) has hired a nighttime replacement for Jessie Jordan, who was shown the door recently. He's mono-monickered Maxwell, whose Maxwell's House will start March 29 (6 to 10 p.m.). His last stop was in Columbus, Ohio.

Singer Taylor Swift signed a Flyers sweater for charity before Thursday's show at the Wachovia Center. It will go up for auction tomorrow at www.comcastspectacorfoundation.com

Many Phillies lounged Thursday during their rare day off during spring training. Centerfielder Shane Victorino took wife Melissa, daughter Kali'a, stepson Keenan, and friends to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, where he met Autumn, a red-ruffed lemur from Madagascar who hit .320 last year. Rolling Stone picks Philly's Free Energy as one of the best new bands. "Philly band cranks out feel-good rock & roll," it blurbs.
