In other Cardinals news, pitcher Anthony Reyes was optioned to triple-A Memphis. Reyes won the World Series opener for St. Louis last fall but has lost 10 straight regular-season decisions.
Reyes is 0-8 with a 6.08 ERA in nine starts.
Righthander Kevin Millwood, who has been bothered by a strained left hamstring, is scheduled to return to the Texas Rangers' rotation Friday night against Seattle.
