Norfolk jumped all over the Phantoms last night, further diminishing the team's fading AHL playoff hopes.

The Admirals fired in four goals in the second period of a 5-1 win at the Wachovia Spectrum.

John Slaney scored the only goal for the Phantoms, who remain eight points out of a playoff spot after losses last night by both Binghamton and Albany. Seven games remain in the season.

Scott Munroe took the loss with 19 saves on 23 shots before getting pulled in the second-period blitz. Martin Houle stopped 10 of 11 in relief.

Norfolk scored eight minutes into the game during a Phantoms power play. Adam Burish jumped in front of a cross-ice pass at the Norfolk blue line and went in alone on Munroe.
