Temple open college hoops season vs. Carolina

Temple will open its college basketball season Nov. 13 against North Carolina in the Veterans Classic Showcase at the U.S. Naval Academy.

The Owls will meet North Carolina in the 7 p.m. opener, followed by Florida vs. Navy at 9:30.

The games will tip off the opening day of the 2015-16 season.

This is the first meeting between the two schools since the Tar Heels beat Temple, 75-72, in a 1991 NCAA tournament Elite Eight game.

Temple is coming off a 26-11 season in which the Owls advanced to the semifinals of the NIT.

North Carolina was 26-12 and reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.

The series between the two schools is tied at 3-3.
