Wednesday’s Pa. roundup: Archbishop Wood boys’ soccer gives La Salle its first PCL loss in three years

The Archbishop Wood boys' soccer team handed La Salle its first Catholic League loss since October of 2015 with a 4-0 victory on Wednesday. Bob Hennessey led the Vikings with two goals as Shane Collier and Kody Taylor chipped in with a goal apiece. Wood, not allowing a single goal in league play, improve to 6-0 in the PCL.

Roman Catholic remains undefeated with a 3-0 win over Father Judge behind goals from Kieran Boyle, Jared Dillon, and Eric Williams.

The Vikings and Cahillites will face off Friday with each team putting their 6-0 records on the line.

Brett Gulati collected two goals and an assist as Spring-Ford took down Norristown, 6-1. Sal Ibarra contributed a goal and an assist for the Rams.

Daniel Weitpay paced Bartram with five goals in an 8-4 triumph over School of the Future. Sultan Sulaimon added two goals, and Luke Moulton had a goal for the Braves.

Charlize Rios scored the game's only goal thanks to a Jordyn Colville assist in Franklin Towne Charter's 1-0 victory over Washington.

Engineering and Science upended Roxborough, 7-5, behind Brian Salazar's hat trick. Anderson Martinez added two goals for the Engineers.

Northeast got goals from six players in the first half to breeze past Franklin Learning Center, 6-1.

Philip Burckhardt recorded a hat trick as Springside Chestnut Hill knocked off Lawrenceville, 4-1. Casey Baker added a goal for the Blue Devils.

Kender Perez notched a hat trick as Phoenixville upended Upper Merion, 5-3. JT Stevens and Clay Kopko each scored a goal for the Phantoms.

AJ Greenberg delivered the game-winning goal to lift Bishop McDevitt over Masterman, 3-2. Matt Duddy provided the assist.

MJ Atkins and Scott Marshall each scored as Haverford School defeated Hill School, 2-0.

Girls' Soccer

Science Leadership Academy edged Washington, 5-4, thanks to Rebecca Cassel-Siskind's hat trick. Zoe Zisser added her first career goal for the Rockets.

Kiara Diaz netted two goals to carry Mastbaum over SLA-Beeber, 3-1. Tamika Williams chipped in a goal for the Panthers.

Ally Paul scored the deciding goal in the second half to lead Penn Charter past Agnes Irwin, 4-2. Janae Stewart followed with an insurance goal, which was her second of the game. Sarah Shippon rounded out the scoring with a first-half goal for the Quakers.

Ka'mya Matthews and Jennifer Diaz netted two goals apiece as Lincoln handled Dobbinsd, 8-1.

Kela Wilson finished with three goals as Constitution rolled to a 7-1 win over Freire Charter.

Claudia Zanine delivered two goals for Upper Moreland in a 4-0 win over Cheltenham. Cassidy Hirsch and Phoebe Longstreth contributed a goal for the Golden Bears, while Moira Olexa had two assists.

Kara Mullaney led a balanced attack with two goals in Penncrest's 7-0 victory over Upper Darby.

Gabrielle Perrotto struck for a pair of goals and Morgan Beatty and Sydney Goodhart each added assists as Phoenixville blanked Upper Merion, 2-0.

Lexie Schacter tallied a goal and two assists as Barrack Hebrew beat Del-Val Friends, 4-0. Jenna Rose made seven saves for the Cougars.

Field Hockey

Lauren Curran registered three goals and an assist as Notre Dame beat Merion Mercy, 6-1. Mia Leonhardt assisted on all of Curran's goals. Paige Kieft stopped four shots for the Irish.

Kaleigh Missimer led the way with a pair of goals as Plymouth Whitemarsh defeated Wissahickon, 4-1. Kayla Link and Sam Spera each had a goal and an assist for the Colonials, who move to 8-0 in the Suburban One American.

Frankie Lucchesi collected a goal and an assist as Methacton shut out Boyertown, 3-0.

Boys' Golf

Penn Charter edged Hill School, 217-218. Sophomore Patrick Isztwan's one-under par 34 was the difference for the Quakers.

Unionville beat Bishop Shanahan, 192-225 to finish out the season 14-0. Chris Skean shot a one-under par 35 to lead the Indians.
