Friday night's matchup between Bucks County neighbors Neshaminy and Pennsbury should be even more intense than usual.

At stake in Fairless Hills is the Suburban One League National Conference championship and the No. 1 seed in the PIAA District 1 Class 6A playoffs.

As of Saturday afternoon, Neshaminy, with an average of 165.6 points, held the top spot in the power-point rankings for the district playoffs; Garnet Valley and Pennsbury were tied behind the Redskins with 164.4.

Because of the bonus points it would gain, the winner of Neshaminy (8-1) vs. Pennsbury (8-1) would nail down the top  seed. That's because Garnet Valley (8-1) would earn considerably fewer bonus points with a probable win over Central League rival Conestoga (1-8).

Neshaminy and Pennsbury are both 5-0 in National Conference action and have each won six straight games overall.

Brody McAndrew passed for 134 yards and a touchdown as the Redskins blanked Council Rock South, 28-0, Friday night; Zach Demarchis threw for 249 yards and two scores as the Falcons topped Abington, 42-28.

For the season, McAndrew has passed for 1,548 yards and 15 TDs; Demarchis, a southpaw who also rushed for 103 yards and three scores vs. Abington, has thrown for 1,395 yards and 15 TDs.

In last year's Bucks County Brawl, tight end Oleh Manzyk was on the receiving end of three scores as Neshaminy thumped Pennsbury, 35-0, at Harry E. Franks Stadium.

Neshaminy has won the teams' last two meetings. The overall head-to-head series is deadlocked at 39-39-7.

The Redskins are trying for their second straight conference title. The Falcons won three straight crowns from 2012 to 2014.

Record-setter

Darryl Davis-McNeil became Abington's all-time leading rusher in Friday's loss to Pennsbury.

The 5-foot-10, 165-pound senior carried 30 times for 229 yards and four scores. He upped his career rushing total to 3,713 yards, eclipsing the old mark of 3,700 set by Julien Ireland in 2010.

Davis-McNeil has carried 155 times for 1,280 yards and 20 TDs in seven games  this season. He has rushed for 200-plus yards in each of the last four games.

Championship game

Pottsgrove (9-0) will visit Perkiomen Valley (8-1) for the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship at 7 p.m. Friday in Collegeville. It's a rematch of last year's final, which Perkiomen Valley won by a 28-14 decision.

The Falcons went 5-0 to place first in the Frontier Division; the Vikings posted the same mark in taking top honors in the Liberty Division.

Pottsgrove's Rahsul Faison, a Stony Brook recruit, has carried 209 times for 2,173 yards and 29 TDs.
