Baseball

Stephen Pizza drove in three runs as Neumann-Goretti advanced to the Catholic League championship for a fourth straight year with a 4-0 victory over Archbishop Ryan.

Mike Hutchinson was solid on the mound to lead Upper Merion, the 16th seed, past West Chester Rustin, 6-3, in the quarterfinals of the District 1 Class 5A playoffs.

Will Peiffer gave up four hits and struck out six over seven innings as Downingtown East defeated Quakertown, 3-1, in a Class 6A playoff game.

Joe Lancellotti hit his 10th homer of the season as Penn Charter took down Germantown Academy, 6-3, in the PAISAA quarterfinals.

Tennis

Lower Merion won the PIAA Class 3A boys' tennis team title for the third straight year on Saturday, defeating Great Valley, 3-0, at the Hershey Racquet Club.

The Aces finished the season 21-0. Lower Merion beat Conestoga in the Central League title match and took down Unionville in the District 1 Class 3A final.
