Lincoln tabbed as new Imhotep football coach

Imhotep Charter has selected one of its former assistants to be its new head football coach. Nick Lincoln, who was previously the squad's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, was announced as the Panthers' new boss Monday.

Nick Lincoln, who was previously the squad's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, was announced as the Panthers' new boss Monday.

"We're excited about it," Imhotep athletic director Andre Noble said. "We're happy to have Nick back."

Lincoln was in charge at Penn Wood the last three seasons. The Patriots went 7-4 overall, 3-2 in the Del-Val League, and earned a berth in the PIAA District 1 Class 6A playoffs.

Lincoln replaces Mark Schmidt, who guided the Panthers to a 13-1 mark and the PIAA Class 4A state final in his one season at the helm. He stepped down ;ast Tuesday for personal reasons.

Lincoln is an 11th grade English teacher at Penn Wood. He played quarterback at Bridgewater College, a Division III program in Northwest Virginia.
