Will D'Andre Swift pick Georgia on Thursday?

St. Joseph's Prep star running back D'Andre Swift will announce his long-anticipated college decision about 1 p.m. Thursday. The 5-foot-9, 215-pound dynamo will reveal his choice via Twitter, accompanied by a link to a previously recorded video on the Bleacher Report website.

Swift's top-five list is made up of Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, and Penn State.

"He's always talked about going South," St. Joseph's Prep coach Gabe Infante recently said. "I think the kid is inclined to play in the SEC or ACC."

Swift and the Hawks are in California preparing to play Oaks Christian Academy (Calif.) Friday in the three-day, five-game Honor Bowl at Mission Viejo High. The game starts at 8 p.m.

Swift is ranked as the No. 4 running back in the county in the class of 2017 by Scout.com. The four-year varsity contributor helped the Prep claim PIAA Class 4A state championships in 2013 and 2014.

"He's got speed, power, great balance. He's really good at catching the ball out of the backfield, and he knows how to block," said Brian Dohn, a national recruiting analyst for Scout.com.

Georgia is widely considered the favorite to land Swift. "It has a great football atmosphere," Swift said in May. "There were 93,000 spectators at their spring game. That says a lot about the passion of their fans."

Swift has bench-pressed 345 pounds and been clocked at 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He carried 164 times for 1,029 yards (6.3 yards per carry) and 12 touchdowns as the Hawks went 7-3 last season.

"He's just special," Infante said of the four-star prospect. "In 20 years of coaching, he's the best running back I've ever been around."

Should Swift opt for Georgia, there's a decent chance Archbishop Wood senior wide receiver Mark Webb, also a four-star prospect, would follow in his close friend's footsteps and choose to play for the Bulldogs.
