Pa. football: Sobolewski's INT seals Jenkintown win

Jenkintown's Frank Sobolewski sealed a 14-7 Bicentennial League win at Calvary Christian Friday afternoon with an interception at his team's 17-yard line with two minutes remaining in regulation.

In the third, Andres Madden connected with Justin Nusbaum on a 40-yard pass for the go-ahead score. The senior quarterback completed 6 of 12 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

Nusbaum also had two interceptions.

BICENTENNIAL LEAGUE

Lower Moreland 20, Valley Forge Military Academy 14: Trailing 14-0 in the second quarter, Mike Parisse threw a pair of touchdowns to tie it for visiting Lower Moreland. In the third, Pat Giordano dashed seven yards for the go-ahead touchdown. Audley Isaacs rushed for a pair of touchdowns for Valley Forge Military Academy.

Quakertown 35, Council Rock South 14: Rob Burns recorded four rushing TDs for Quakertown - the 13th-ranked team in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer - in its win at No. 18 Council Rock South.

Perkiomen Valley 42, Phoenixville 0: Stephen Sturm threw for three touchdowns in the 12th-ranked Vikings' rout at Phoenixville.

CATHOLIC LEAGUE AAA

Archbishop Ryan 26, Cardinal O'Hara 13: Jaye McNeil rushed for 208 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Raiders at Cardinal O'Hara.

PUBLIC LEAGUE AAAA INDEPENDENCE

Ben Franklin 40, Roxborough 6: Javier Buffalo broke the city's career receiving touchdown and yardage records at Roxborough. The senior finished with three catches for 135 yards and three TDs. In his career, Buffalo has caught 35 touchdowns, breaking former Imhotep Charter receiver D.J. Moore's (32) record set last season. Buffalo also recorded his 2,385th receiving yard, surpassing former Roman Catholic receiver Will Fuller's (2,380) mark set in 2012.

Washington 16, Lincoln 0: Kwijah Kelly ran a yard for a touchdown in the fourth to open the scoring. Later in the quarter, Jeffrey Davis added some insurance with a 52-yard TD return on an interception. George Hubbard had two picks and Nadir Smith added another. Washington recorded eight sacks to stifle the host's offense.

PUBLIC LEAGUE AAAA LIBERTY

Frankford 42, Kensington 0: Ralph Hyland rushed for 85 yards and a first-quarter touchdown in a shutout at Simon Gratz.

Fels 32, Mastbaum 16: Anibal Mercado threw three touchdowns, including a pair to Khalif Whitaker, as Fels rolled to victory at Northeast.

PUBLIC LEAGUE CLASS AA

Palumbo 38, Strawberry Mansion 6: Tahir Cruse got the Griffins on the board in the first quarter at 29th and Chalmers Park, running five yards for the first of his two touchdowns. The junior finished with 102 yards on 11 carries. Deen Whitaker had nine rushes for 113 yards and a pair of touchdowns. In the third quarter, Alieu Sahor connected with Fajon Mobley on a 15-yard touchdown pass.

NONLEAGUE

Perkiomen School 36, Wyoming Seminary 8: Brett Ciocari threw for a pair of touchdowns and rushed for another to lead the Panthers at Wyoming Sminary.
