Reinstated West Chester star Tim Brown likely to play Saturday

After two unsuccessful attempts to have all-American tight end Tim Brown reinstated, West Chester University finally broke through on the third. Brown began practice this week and is expected to play Saturday against Seton Hill after the NCAA reversed its decision on appeal.

After two unsuccessful attempts to have all-American tight end Tim Brown reinstated, West Chester University finally broke through on the third. Brown began practice this week and is expected to play Saturday against Seton Hill after the NCAA reversed its decision on appeal.

The NCAA originally ruled that Brown's career was over because he had used up the 10 full-time semesters that Division II student-athletes are allotted.

West Chester coach Bill Zwaan took the blame for it, saying that he had made a clerical error and hoped the decision would be rescinded.

Earlier this week, he got his wish as Brown was cleared. He began practicing with the Rams on Tuesday.

"He'll be back, which will help us a lot," Zwaan said of the first-team all-American. "He's a great football player who will help our quarterback [Pat Moriarty] out significantly. He's not going to be in great shape, but he'll help us out."

Marcelin carries Rowan

Rowan running back Withler Marcelin ran for 164 yards and a pair of scores two weeks ago in the Profs' season-opening 24-10 win over Widener as he continued to etch his name in the record book.

With his effort against Widener, Marcelin broke the school's long-standing career rushing record of 3,217 yards, set by Robbie Reid in 1975. Marcelin now has 3,309 yards in his career. It's the 17th record he has broken during his career.

With 645 carries, he's just five short of eclipsing Reid's mark for career carries. Marcelin has 4,039 career all-purpose yards. The school record is 4,522.

"He's really a special back," said Widener coach Mike Kelly, who suffered his first regular-season defeat.
