CHICAGO - When the sightseeing was over and the business of football began, Malvern Prep was ready to open the season with a bang.

The Friars rocked St. Rita's (Ill.), 37-0, at Soldier Field on Friday night.

Junior quarterback Nick Maras completed 13 of 15 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. Maras connected with Rashon Lusane for a 67-yard score.

Linebacker Riley Ammerman, who had a sack and a strip in the second quarter, led the way defensively along with Lusane, a cornerback, and linebacker Pat Finley.

As part of the trip, Malvern Prep practiced at and toured the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. The Friars plan to stop at Notre Dame on the way home.

The experience was coordinated with St. Rita's, which, like Malvern Prep, is an Augustinian school.
