Butler, V. Maria advance in AAA

It was the first state playoff victory in program history for Villa Maria.

In the second inning, Sarahrose Jonik singled, stole second and third base, and scored on a squeeze play by Bridget Curley.

Maddie Abbot went the distance and struck out 11.

The second game of the doubleheader between Owen J. Roberts and Penn Manor was rained out and will be played Tuesday afternoon at Lyons softball field.

In a Class AA game at York College, Philadelphia Academy Charter trailed Delone Catholic, 4-0, before play was halted in top of the second inning. The game will resume Tuesday from that point.

All other state baseball and softball games were postponed until Tuesday.
