Pa. boys: Abington's Leech sets school record

Abington's Cameron Leech broke a record more than twice as old as he is on Wednesday. The York College-bound midfielder dished out 10 assists and scored one goal in the Ghosts' 18-6 Suburban One National lacrosse victory at Neshaminy.

The York College-bound midfielder dished out 10 assists and scored one goal in the Ghosts' 18-6 Suburban One National lacrosse victory at Neshaminy.

He now has 131 points this season, two more than Ron Forster finished with in 1976.

Forster went on to star at Drexel.

Hunter Jones added eight goals and one assist for Abington. The Monmouth recruit has 121 points this year, which is the fourth-most in program history.

Joey Lomady and John Wink added four goals each.

Mason Zeberlein scored twice for Neshaminy.

Mid-Atlantic Prep. Zach Keller scored twice but Hill School fell to visiting Hun School, 9-8.

Tri-County League. Ryland Patterson paired three goals with two assists to propel Perkiomen School to a 12-2 victory over visiting Del-Val Friends. Alex Williams added two goals and two assists.

Suburban One American. Michael Sowers went for three goals and seven assists to as Upper Dublin cruised by Springfield (Montco), 14-4, at home.

Nonleague. Chris Hummel piled up five goals and two assists to power Interboro to a 13-9 win at Pope John Paul II. Dave Kilgore added four goals and Nate Murtha chipped in with three goals and two assists.

Baseball

Conestoga clipped Haverford School, 1-0, to take over first place in the Central League.

Len Watson knocked in the only run with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.

Tim Miller struck out eight and walked zero in a three-hitter.

Elsewhere in the Central League:

Ben Faso and Jeff Shanfeldt hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first and Steve Talis (six strikeouts) did the rest as Garnet Valley defeated Ridley, 6-3.

Garrett McGurl went three for four with two runs and four RBIs as Radnor breezed by Springfield (Delco), 10-0, at home. Sean Corelli had two hits, two runs and three RBIs.

Bicentennial Constitution. Christian Geer went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs to jolt Jenkintown to a 12-5 win at Faith Christian. Justin Nusbaum went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a two stolen bases.

Ches-Mont. Joey Boggs struck out four in a four-hitter to lift Oxford over Bishop Shanahan, 5-0, at home.

Friends Schools. Jon Moldoff scattered five hits and struck out seven in six innings as Westtown won, 8-6, at Academy of New Church.

Mid-Atlantic Prep. Sam Murphy hit a two-out, two-run single to center in the top of the 10th to send Hill School to a 5-3 victory over Peddie School.

Pioneer. David Carr drove in two runs to lead Methacton to a 4-3 win at Spring-Ford.

Public A. Steve Callahan went 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI to lead Franklin Towne Charter past Esperanza, 9-5. In the top of the fourth, Callahan caught a line drive, stepped on second and threw to first for a triple play.

Public B. Abdur Mujahid struck out seven in three innings to back Boys' Latin in its 10-0 victory at Engineering and Science.

Public C. Cody Sweeten struck out nine in a complete game to back Maritime Academy in its 4-3 victory over Tacony Academy Charter. Logan Dougherty and Mason Richardson both had multi-hit games.

Anthony Moore hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to end Rush's 13-2 win over Sankofa Freedom via the 10-run rule.

Nonleague. Parker Abate hit a three-run triple in the bottom of the sixth to send Malvern Prep to a 6-4 win over Friends' Central.

Isaias Palomares went 3 for 3 with five RBIs and two runs to lead Franklin Learning Center to a 17-2 home win over Edison.

Tennis

Thibault Vernier won, 6-4, 6-4, to lead Lower Merion to a 3-0 victory over Council Rock in the District 1 Class AAA final at Upper Perkiomen.

It was the first title for the Aces since 2007.

District 12 Class AAA Final. Andrew Lutschaunig won, 6-1, 7-5 at first singles to lead La Salle to a 4-1 victory over Central at Legacy in East Falls.
