Pa. Boys: Porter lifts Abington over Pennsbury

He didn't make it look pretty, but Jake Porter got the job done Friday night.

Porter banked home a go-ahead three from the left elbow with 32.9 seconds left and Abington hung on for a 58-57 win over visiting Pennsbury in a Suburban One National matchup.

After Porter's shot gave Abington a one-point lead, the Ghosts' defense held on for the win. Bernard James came up with a steal. Abington missed a pair of free throws, but Amir Hinton sealed the game with another steal with 3.5 seconds left.

Neshaminy 49, Bensalem 46: Shammona Thomas nailed two free throws with two seconds left to help Neshaminy close out the road win.

Council Rock North 56, William Tennent 37: Riley Thompson led the drive as Council Rock North pulled away in the second and third quarter. Thompson scored all 16 of his points in the middle quarters and Council Rock North outscored William Tennent, 36-10.

Central Bucks South 62, North Penn 53: Chris Hones had 15 hauled in 15 rebounds and scored 16 points in a home win.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 55, Upper Moreland 35: Xzavier Malone's put-back dunk highlighted Plymouth Whitemarsh's 12-2 run to start the second half in a home win. Malone finished with 16 points.

SUBURBAN ONE AMERICAN

Upper Dublin 45, Norristown 44: Simeon Fryor made a 10-foot jumper with 28 seconds left to lift visiting Upper Dublin.

GONZAGA DC CLASSIC

Roman Catholic 54, Roosevelt 41: Gemil Holbrook posted 18 points and 14 rebounds in the win at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C.

HOOP GROUP READING TIP-OFF SHOWCASE

Chester 69, Berks Catholic 62: Marquis Collins knocked down five threes and finished with 17 points in the win at Reading.

Springfield (Delco) 57, Radnor 37: Ryan McCloskey (14 points) and Quideer Wimes (12 points) led visiting Springfield in scoring, but also led the team's defensive effort.

Harriton 53, Strath Haven 50: Jordan Wright made a game-winning three with four seconds left and finished with 30 points for visiting Harriton.

Hill School 60, Academy of the New Church 46: James Fives scored a game-high 24 points and Bryce Allen had four assists and four steals as Hill School held Academy of the New Church to 14 points in the second half at Haverford School.

Friends' Central 68, Friends Select 29: Steven Fowell led 10 Friends' Central scorers with 13 points in a home win.
