Sat. Pa. boys and girls: Harriton rallies past Radnor

Down by two goals with 20 minutes left, the Harriton boys' soccer team persevered Saturday. A goal by Kyle Gaeffke halved Radnor's lead, then Felix Serlin managed to slip a shot past goalie Ryan Young with only 14 seconds to play, sending the game to overtime.

There, Harriton made short work of the visiting Raiders to complete the comeback, with Serlin scoring his second goal of the game two minutes into the extra period for a 4-3 victory in a Central League game.

On a free kick, the ball was cleared out on a header by a Radnor player right to the feet of Serlin, who then drilled a bullet past Young from 25 yards.

In other Central League play:

Upper Darby edged visiting Springfield, 2-1, behind solid goalkeeping by Bryam Gordillo, who had 11 saves.

Anthony Hayes and Ryan Tillman each scored two goals for Lower Merion, ranked No. 7 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer, sparking a 6-1 rout of Marple Newtown at home.

Liam Thomas had six saves, Dan Bullitt and Charlie Simpson scored, and Penncrest topped Haverford High at home, 2-1.

Nonleague. Christian Williams scored his 12th goal of the season to help Springside Chestnut Hill past Archbishop Ryan, 4-2, at home.

Shipley shut out La Salle at home, 2-0, thanks to goals by Konrad Bulanowski and Ronan Higgens.

Great Valley hosted William Tennent and triumphed, 1-0. Nick Chawaga scored 10 minutes into the second half.

Girls' Soccer

A misclear by the Perkiomen Valley defense allowed Emily Kupsov to put a shot in the net, sending Owen J. Roberts to a 2-0 Pioneer Athletic Liberty victory at home.

Mahogany Willis also scored for the Wildcats.

Central League. Lizzie King scored in the 75th minute for Strath Haven in a 1-0 win against Conestoga.

Penncrest toppled visiting Haverford High, 5-1, led by Olivia Mancerella's hat trick and Kayla Allen's 12 saves.

Cross-Country

Senior Casey Comber of Hatboro-Horsham took first place in the Chris Fretz Invitational at Perkiomen Valley with a time of 15 minutes, 48 seconds on the 3.1-mile course, beating second-place runner Connor McMenamin by almost 30 seconds. McMenamin, of Souderton, had a time of 16:14.

In the varsity girls' event, Annie Gledek of Perkiomen Valley beat Allison Bruton of Owen J. Roberts in a close race, the two finishing in 19:10 and 19:12, respectively.

PIAA Foundation Invitational. Paul Power of Spring-Ford topped the field for boys' varsity with a time of 15:50 at Hersheypark, followed closely by Kevin James of Cardinal O'Hara at 15:54.

Girls' Tennis

Top-seeded Rachel Benstock of Harriton defeated second seed Marina Zhang of Garnet Valley, 6-1, 6-4, to win the Central League singles tournament at the Healthplex in Springfield, Delaware County.

The top six finishers qualified for the District 1 tournament.
