Inter-Ac League

It certainly looks as if Haverford School has what it takes to claim its first Inter-Ac championship since 1999.

The Fords, who went 17-9 overall and 6-4 in the league last season, are propelled by 6-foot-3 junior point guard Levan "Shawn" Alston (16.2 ppg., 5 apg.) and 6-7 swingman Eric Anderson (8.5 ppg., 7.5 rpg.).

Alston, who was the Inter-Ac's co-most valuable player, has scholarship offers from Boston College, La Salle, and Temple, among others; Anderson is bound for Yale.

Haverford School, last season's runner-up, also has a trio of solid wing players: 6-5 junior Derek Mountain, 6-7 sophomore Lamar Stevens, and 6-6 sophomore Lukas Rosenbohm.

Stevens transferred from Abington Friends; Rosenbohm came to the Main Line from Ulm, Germany.

Defending champ Germantown Academy (23-6, 10-0) has to replace all five starters. The rebuilding job will center on 6-3 junior guard Tim Guers, 6-6 junior forward Sam Lindgren, and sophomore guard Devon Goodman.

Three other sophomores in the mix for the young Patriots are guard Bailey Whitman, 6-4 swingman Gabe Alter, and 6-9 forward Joe Stinson.

Penn Charter (16-9, 6-4) has one of the area's best point guards in 6-3 senior Sean O'Brien, who averaged 14.5 points last season and will continue his career at Colgate.

The Quakers also are counting on five other seniors: guards Demetrius Isaac, Alex Schwarz, and Malcolm Elshari; 6-8 center Micah Holloway; and 6-5 forward Anthony Campanile.

The catalyst for Episcopal Academy (17-10, 5-5) is 6-2 senior wing guard Chris McNeal. The cocaptain averaged 17 points, drilled 50 three-pointers, and was a first-team all-league selection last season.

McNeal gets support from 6-2 senior forward Connor Martin, speedy junior point guard Mike Jolaoso, and 6-4 junior forward Kyleel Cosby. Junior guard Mike Hinckley and 6-5 freshman forward Nick Alikakos round out the rotation.

Springside Chestnut Hill (10-15, 2-8) relies heavily on senior guards Jordan Watson (11 ppg.), Frank Jackson, and Najere Johnson.

The Blue Devils' bid for improvement also includes 6-4 senior forward Jack Grasso. Dylan Parsons, a 6-1 junior wing guard, hit the hardwood after earning second-team all-league honors in football as a wide receiver.

Malvern Prep, guided by new coach John Harmatuk, is ignited by junior guards Chris Anderson, Joey Fitzpatrick, and Jack Doherty.

The Friars (9-20, 1-9) also are paced by sophomore guard Will Powers, 6-3 sophomore forward Brent Greeley, 6-3 senior wing Andy Pancoast, and senior guard Murphy Rodgers.
