Tues. Pa. girls' roundup: Nazareth rolls past Pottstown

Dombrowski piled up 14 points and 12 rebounds, Gasperi collected 11 points and 10 boards, and Marissa Sylvester scored seven of her nine points in a 20-3 first-quarter surge that put the Pandas in Friday's quarterfinals.

In other Class AAA action, Springfield (Delco) avenged two regular-season losses to Marple Newtown by shocking the host Tigers, 50-41, in overtime.

Olivia Kane and Nicole Ward each scored four points in OT and Springfield was 8 for 10 at the foul line in the extra period after making 8 of 20 in regulation.

Down by a point at halftime, Gwynedd-Mercy outscored host Merion Mercy by 37-17 after intermission to win, 57-38.

The teams each won once in two regular-season meetings, but the Monarchs, who got 13 points from Taylor Sweeney, made 24 of 28 foul shots to Merion's 1 of 2 in the game.

Pope John Paul II, which split a pair of regular-season games with Phoenixville, dealt the Phantoms a 43-25 loss.

Ellen Chernasky, the Golden Panthers' 5-foot-9 sophomore forward, had seven steals and five blocked shots, and Taylor Bearden scored a game-high 14 points.

Catholic. Olivia DeRogatis led Archbishop Carroll in scoring with 13 points and rebounding with eight boards as the Patriots dealt Neumann-Goretti a 55-41 setback in the league semifinals at Philadelphia University.

Carroll jumped to a 32-19 halftime advantage behind balanced scoring. DeRogatis was backed by Rachel Pearson and Sarah Curran with 12 points each, and Kristie Costantino with 10. Curran added five rebounds, and Pearson had eight first-quarter points.
