Fri. Pa. boys' roundup: Carroll squeezes by O'Hara

Yacob entered the game averaging 9.4 points per game, but finished with just four. The 6-foot junior guard's free throws sealed the Patriots win by giving them a comfy, 52-48 lead.

Lou Dominique led Carroll with 18 points - six of which came in the fourth period - and six rebounds.

In other Catholic League action, West Catholic put forth a strong effort but fell at Father Judge, 56-55, in its first game since learning the school is set to close. Mark Perez led the Burrs with 23 points, and Steven Griffin had 14 for Father Judge.

Jamal Nwaniemeka shot 14-for-23 from the floor and dished out seven assists as Conwell-Egan topped visiting Monsignor Bonner, 64-44, in matchup of two teams who learned earlier in the day that their schools are set to be shuttered.

"It was very somber in the locker room," said Conwell-Egan head coach Rick Sabol. "But there were a lot of alumni, a lot of players who played for me at the game and it energized us."

Kyle Adkins nailed each of his four foul shots in the fourth quarter and overtime as host Archbishop Wood turned away Archbishop Ryan, 52-49. Joe LaStracco led the Vikings with 19 points and 10 rebounds.Friends Schools. Daniel Pitman scored 12 of his game-high 24 points in the first quarter as Academy of the New Church scorched visiting Germantown Friends, 73-41.

Bicentennial. Kyle Kohler grabbed nine rebounds to go along with his 16 points as Devon Prep trounced host MaST Charter, 60-39. Nick Weis chipped in with six assists.

Jeff Ainsley and Jack Kalnes dropped in seven points in the first quarter as Holy Ghost Prep skated past visiting New Hope-Solebury, 55-30.

Mike Hutson scored 13 points in the first half, and Phil-Mont Christian rolled the rest of the way at Jenkintown, 64-34.

Inter-Ac. Julian Moore's 12 rebounds and Greg Dotson's 10 helped Germantown Academy dominate the glass en route to a 69-67 win over Penn Charter at Cabrini College.

With a strong performance on the low post, Eric Anderson keyed Haverford School to a 45-39 win over Chestnut Hill. Anderson finished with 16 points and grabbed six boards.

Senior wing guard Brendan Kilpatrick poured in 14 first half points as Malvern Prep downed Episcopal Academy, 60-43. Senior forward Tom Pitt added 13 rebounds.

Suburban One. Senior guard Jordan Reed grabbed 15 rebounds and poured in a game-high 25 points as Wissahickon rolled at Upper Moreland, 70-39.

Nonleague. Jordan Greene's lay-in with five seconds left lifted host Abington Friends to a 45-43 win over Bodine. Montana Mayfield scored nine of his team-high 21 points in the first quarter.

Bok knocked down four three-pointers in the fourth as it pulled away at GAMP, 60-40. I-Meir Martin scored six of his game-high 20 in the fourth, and Sean McLean had seven of his 17.

Marcus Tillery grabbed 12 rebounds and swatted three shots as Swenson held off visiting Science Leadership, 70-64. Da'Quan Ballenger dropped in 15 of his game-high 21 points in the first quarter.

Dequan Jackson scored five points in overtime as visiting Dobbins knocked off Olney, 61-54. Jackson finished with 18 points.

Senior forward Rahshan Wooten-Miller dropped a career-high 17 points and added five rebounds as Boys' Latin rolled over visiting Strawberry Mansion, 74-46.

James Kelly and Devon Wilson both dropped in eight points in the fourth as Fels rallied to top host Mastbaum, 53-43. Kelly finished with a team-high 17 points.

Tajhere McCall's 11 points helped Engineering & Science roll at Ben Franklin, 31-25.

Wrestling

Remy Young, Vince Bellwoar, and Dean Feinman scored pins to help Haverford School win at Inter-Ac rival Malvern Prep, 42-26.

Public League. Calvin Oquendo needed just 58 seconds to pin Haquiel Jusino at 132 pounds as Frankford cruised at Olney, 64-12.

Chris Rusi rallied in the third period to score a pin at 220 pounds, and host Northeast held off Edison, 55-24. Rusi had trailed 9-5 in the period.

Aaron Moldoff pinned Brandon Miller in 1:26 at 113 pounds as host Marple Newtown easily defeated Central League foe Strath Haven, 51-20.
