Thurs. Pa. boys roundup: West Philly edges Freire

The Speedboys trailed by four points after three quarters, but Sams had nine points in the final period to finish with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Donte Watkins led the winners with 19 points.

Also in the Public League, Lincoln forward Michael Bowlers got close to the school's 49-year-old school record of 51 points in a game when he poured in a career-best 45 and also grabbed 18 rebounds in a 90-67 win at FitzSimons. Anton Fletcher added 10 rebounds.

Vaux earned its first Division A win by handing visiting Constitution its first loss in the division, 61-59. Rysheed Jordan made 4 of 5 foul shots in the final 3 minutes to keep Vaux in front and complete a 22-point performance.

Down by two points after three quarters, Sankofa Freedom followed Luis Martinez's six fourth-period points to a 54-43 win at Science Leadership. Anthony Downing grabbed nine rebounds.

Engineering & Science combined Tajhere McCall's 11 rebounds and six assists with scoring by Dijon Eggleton (12), Omari Franklin (12), and Sibley Robinson (11) to beat visiting Paul Robeson, 49-47.

Terrence Murray's basket with 9.9 seconds left gave Olney a 56-54 win at Palumbo.

Masterman dealt visiting Overbrook a 69-55 loss as Jack Christmas had 14 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 assists, and Harry Taggart added 11 boards and two assists.

Northeast's Darryl Bagwell (25) tied the game at the end of regulation, but visiting Audenried prevailed in overtime, 55-54, with a late steal and field goal.

Palmer outgunned host Rush, 91-63, with six players in double figures, led by Malik Burbage's 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals, and Richard Gaines' 18 points and 10 boards.

Parkway Northwest needed Mohammad Conteh's basket with 2 seconds left to edge visiting Douglas, 43-41.

Nijay Kelly led Fels in scoring (30) and rebounding (13) en route to a 63-48 triumph at Strawberry Mansion.

Yahmir Greenlee's foul shot with seven seconds left punctuated a 22-point game and made Boys' Latin a 56-53 winner over visiting Frankford.

Edison's Jesse Carrasquillo nailed six threes among his 26 points, but it was not enough to stop a 74-55 loss at Mastery Charter South. Mastery's Kevin Beaford (15) hit eight points in a key, 22-5 second quarter.

Eight rebounds each by Jeffon Powell, Jeremiah Worthem (22) and Abraham Massaley carried Math, Civics & Sciences past visiting Philadelphia Electrical, 68-61.

Richard Burton's layup with 53 seconds to go proved to be the deciding points for Del-Val Charter in a 52-51 success at Dobbins.

Catholic. Junior guard Steve Vasturia scored 17 points over the two middle periods and finished with 22 as St. Joseph's Prep defeated visiting Lansdale Catholic, 61-40.

Billy Shank (17) made four of five three-point shots, and John Davis (11) and Derrick Stewart (12) had nine rebounds each as Neumann-Goretti beat host La Salle, 82-53.

Central. Harriton converted 22 of 25 free throws in a 61-49 triumph over visiting Strath Haven. The Rams' Matt Sherman piled up 28 points, and Detasia Dixon had six rebounds, five steals, and five assists.

Upper Darby's Yusef Ross made two foul shots with 14 seconds left to beat host Ridley, 53-52.

Alex Graham hit four three-pointers in a 20-point effort, leading Penncrest past visiting Marple Newtown, 52-38.

Pioneer Athletic. Scott Dennin's 17 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks helped host Boyertown overcome a 28-point game by Pottstown's Elijah Jackson and win, 56-54.

Ches-Mont. Bishop Shanahan notched a 59-56 verdict against visiting Downingtown East in which Ryan Conrad scored 20 points.

Nonleague. James Mobley (31) scored eight of Upper Merion's nine points in overtime as the Vikings beat host Academy Park, 64-60. Mobley's fifth three-pointer was a 22-footer with 10 seconds left.

Guard Kelly Sanders scored 22 points and went inside for 11 rebounds while aiding Pennsylvania School for the Deaf's 51-40 win over visiting Community Academy of Philadelphia.

Ben Holl nailed four three-pointers in a 32-point game, boosting Friends Select past host West-Mont Christian, 76-32.

Church Farm improved to 7-1 with a 64-47 win over visiting Chichester in which Howard Sellars scored scored half of his 22 points in the opening period.

Ethan Tankel started the meet with a pin at 170 poounds, igniting Westtown's 62-6 Friends Schools League win over visiting Friends' Central.
