Blue Chip girls’ basketball showcase set for Sunday

Two teams in the ESPN Powerade Fab 50, one of them from this area, will be among the schools playing Sunday in the eighth annual Blue Chip Basketball Super Sunday showcase at Archbishop Carroll in Radnor.

Two teams in the ESPN Powerade Fab 50, one of them from this area, will be among the schools playing Sunday in the eighth annual Blue Chip Basketball Super Sunday showcase at Archbishop Carroll in Radnor.

Germantown Academy, ranked No. 2 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer and No. 28 in the national Fab 50, will face St. John Vianney at 6 p.m. Vianney is a perennial New Jersey power.

Archbishop Carroll, defending Catholic League champion, is scheduled to play Christ the King of Queens, N.Y., in the game before at 4:30. Christ the King is No. 30 in the Fab 50.

Nazareth Academy and Episcopal Academy are scheduled to open the 14-team showcase at 10:30 a.m.

Three other teams in The Inquirer top 10 - Cardinal O'Hara, Villa Maria Academy, and Archbishop Wood - are also on the Blue Chip schedule.

O'Hara, ranked No. 7, will face Villa Maria Academy of Erie at noon. After that game, at 1:30, Springside will challenge Archbishop Wood. The Vikings are The Inquirer's top-ranked team.

The Hurricanes, ranked No. 8, will meet Archbishop Ryan in the 7:30 finale. The other game pits Notre Dame against DeLone Catholic at 3 p.m.
