Former West Catholic point guard and cuurent Penn Wood senior Aquil Younger gave an oral commitment Tuesday to play men's basketball at Drexel.

The 6-foot senior combo guard chose the Dragons over Niagara, Temple, La Salle, Charlotte and St. Mary's (Md.). He cannot sign a binding national letter of intent until November.

"I picked Drexel, because they have been recruiting me since the eighth grade," Younger said.

Younger officially transferred to Penn Wood from West Catholic Wednesday.

"I'm trying to be one of the best guards at Drexel since Michael Anderson," he said of the Philadelphian who went on to become the Indiana Pacers' third-round draft pick in 1988.

Younger averaged 18.9 points, five assists and five rebounds last season at West Catholic. He was a second-team all-Catholic Blue Division selection and second-team Class AA all state.

"I wanted to leave West Catholic the last three years and my coach Bill Ludlow was retiring," Younger said of his decision to transfer. "Plus, I live right around the corner from Penn Wood" in Lansdowne.
