George Washington coach Ron Cohen has said that quarterback Aaron Wilmer's next-level potential in football would be significantly higher if he were a few inches taller.

Wilmer, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound senior, showed why Cohen thinks so highly of him with a stellar effort Thursday night against Central Bucks East. He ran for two long touchdowns and threw for two more as the Eagles romped to a 35-14 victory at War Memorial Field in Doylestown.

Wilmer, also a standout baseball player, rushed seven times for 140 yards, including scores of 54 and 46 yards. He connected on five of 11 passing attempts, with scoring tosses of 20 and 58 yards to junior tight end Brandon Chudnoff and sophomore wideout Nate Smith, respectively.

Overall, Washington, which improved to 2-1, netted 424 yards of offense (315 rushing, 109 passing). The only score Wilmer was not involved in was Wilder Polycarpe's 2-yard first-quarter score.

The Patriots, in their final tune-up before their Suburban One League Continental Conference schedule, dropped to 0-3. The hosts were limited to 69 yards rushing and 20 passing in the first half. Overall, they finished with 140 yards of offense.

On the Eagles' third possession, Wilmer faked an inside handoff to Vernon Dupree and darted toward the left sideline en route to a 54-yard TD. Midway through the second quarter, the QB capped a seven-play, 92-yard series with a 46-yard scoring jaunt.

In addition to Chudnoff, Washington's offensive line included center Hafuz Tahiraj, guards Scott George and Sharrif Floyd, and tackles Sean Fleet and Abdel Kanan.

In the second quarter, with an 11-play, 63-yard scoring drive, C.B. East cut the deficit to 13-7 on a 4-yard burst by senior running back John Veix. Its only other score came with just 12 seconds to go in the game, on a 20-yard pass from sophomore QB Josh Bernard to senior wideout Cason Carrell.

The Eagles' defense was anchored by Chudnoff, an end who recorded a pair of sacks, fellow end Martin Haynes, and linebacker Simba Sellers.
