Moorestown's Rieger is MVP in West's all-star victory

Harrison Rieger of Moorestown was named most valuable player of the West squad that captured the 40th annual Carino Club all-star game in boys' basketball on Sunday with a 132-127 victory over the East team.

Rieger scored 17 points for a West team that made 16-pointers in the game at Rutgers-Camden.

Woodbury senior Ja'Zere Noel also scored 17 points and Cherry Hill East's Joey DiAntonio added 16, with four three-pointers, for the winning squad.

Rieger, Justin Kupa of Lenape, and Matt Murphy of Delran each made three three-pointers for the West.

Hafeez Melvin of Maple Shade scored 17 points and was most valuable player of the east squad. Camden's John Evans and Bordentown's Manny Ansong scored 16 each for the East.

Evans, Michael Gibson of Clayton, and Juanye Colon of Atlantic City each made three three-pointers for the East.

Ansong and Pleasantville's Malik Morgan were named co-winners of of the slam dunk contest.

In the Tim Lenahan Memorial eighth grade game, Devin Benson of Williamstown Middle School was named MVP as the Blue squad beat the White, 82-81. Nick Nye of Anne Mullen Middle School was MVP of the White team.
