Here is the all-South Jersey girls' basketball team:

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

F Isabella Therien, Cherokee, sr., 6-0, 20.4 ppg

The consensus around the area is that there has rarely been as obvious a choice for player of the year as Therien. In her senior season the 6-foot forward was heroic for a team on which she was the only returning varsity player. Therien didn't just turn in the best season of her high school career, she made everyone else around her better. She put her team on her back and led the Chiefs to a 27-3 record, including titles in South Jersey Group 4, the South Jersey Invitational Basketball Tournament, and the Olympic Conference American Division.

She averaged 20.4 points and 8 rebounds per game. But that doesn't begin to tell the story of a star player who shined brightest in the biggest moments of the season.

In the state semifinals, Therien, a forward by trade, drove the length of the court, through traffic, and hit a game-winning layup at the buzzer. In the sectional semifinals against rival Lenape, she scored 31 points. And in the SJIBT championship against Gloucester Catholic, she generated 28 points and 10 rebounds. Veteran coach Ron Powell relied on Therien to do everything. She would run the point at times. She would guard the opposing team's biggest and best players. And, perhaps most importantly, she showed an inexperienced team how to play in big-time moments.

G Aliyah Stephens, Paul VI, sr., 5-8, 14.6

Stephens finished her senior season with 1,538 points, making her Paul VI's all-time leading scorer, including boys and girls. She averaged 14.1 points this season. She was known outside her program as a scorer, but that was just one of the roles she played on her team this season. Stephens was the leader of one of the youngest teams in South Jersey. She was an emotional spark plug, a tough scorer and a strong defender who averaged two steals per game while helping her team to an Olympic Conference National Division title.

F Ashley Reynolds, Haddon Heights, sr., 5-9, 18.3

Reynolds was a do-it-all star who capped one of the best careers in the history of Haddon Heights basketball with a stellar senior season. In the paint, she was a physical, imposing presence, but she could drain three-pointers with remarkable consistency. She actually established herself as one of the top outside shooters in South Jersey this season, connecting on 50 three-pointers. She averaged 18.3 points per game this season - helping her establish a Haddon Heights record of 1,716 career points - while averaging 12.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game.

G Grace Sacco, Ocean City, sr., 5-4, 8.9

Sacco's court awareness and basketball I.Q. were among the best in New Jersey this season. The senior point guard established herself as the area's top passer while showing enough savvy to run one of South Jersey's most precise offenses. She was also strong with the ball in her hands, a solid outside shooter, adept at driving to the rim, and, on defense, served as a catalyst for a team that allowed more than 30 points just 12 times in 32 games. Sacco was the floor general for a team that won 30 games - including the Cape-Atlantic and South Jersey Group 3 titles - and advanced to the state championship.

F Danielle Sanderlin, Gloucester Catholic, sr., 5-9, 16.0

Sanderlin was a star on one of the most talented starting units in South Jersey. At 5-9, she was dangerous everywhere on the floor. She was a versatile scorer and established herself as one of the top rebounders in the state. Along with Azana Baines, she formed one of the most athletic duos on both ends of the floor in recent South Jersey memory while leading her team to a 21-7 record and a Tri-County Classic Division title.

F CC Mooney, Haddonfield, sr., 6-0, 13.9
