Kyle Missry was looking to be a "catalyst" for the Jersey Shore baseball team.

The recent St. Rose High School of Belmar graduate started and finished the winning rally in extra innings in the Carpenter Cup Classic semifinals.

Missry, who didn't enter the game until the sixth inning, led off the 10th inning with a home run to spark Jersey Shore to a 6-5 victory over Delaware County Monday at Citizens Bank Park.

Jersey Shore, the defending champion, advanced to face Suburban One League National/Bicentennial in the championship game of the 30th annual tournament Tuesday at 10 a.m.

SOL National/Bicentennial defeated Berks County, 6-5, in the first semifinal.

"It's like something you dream about," Missry said of his home run, which came on a 1-0 pitch and landed in the seats behind left field.

Missry, who plans to play at Montclair State, also rapped an RBI single in the seventh. Ocean Township's Anthony Bartolomei doubled, scored and hit a sacrifice fly for Jersey Shore.

Jersey Shore is the most successful team in tournament history in terms of total victories (42) and winning percentage (.689).

Missry came to the plate with the score tied 5-5 in the top of the 10th, "looking to get on base."

"It was a fastball in and I was able to turn on it," Missry said. "It's the most amazing thing ever."

Abington junior Jack Larini delivered a pair of RBI singles for SOL National/Bicentennial.

"It's amazing," Larini said. "We're so ecstatic to get this far and make the championship game."
