S.J. boys and girls: Moorestown girls wins fifth straight S.J. lacrosse crown

The top-seeded Moorestown girls' lacrosse team won its fifth straight South Jersey Group 3 title Thursday, defeating visiting No. 2 Notre Dame, 17-4.

Midfielder Melanie Becker scored five goals. Abby Brooks netted a hat trick and had three assists.

Annika Nissen and Alex O'Donnell each scored twice for the Quakers, who will play for their fifth straight state title Saturday against Morristown at Kean University.

Softball

Alexa Toner went 3 for 3 with a double, home run, and three RBIs as Paul VI triumphed over visiting Seneca, 11-6, to clinch the Olympic Conference National division title for the second straight year. Abbey Lord went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Sam Sack scored three runs.

Cape-Atlantic. Mikaela Power went 2 for 4 with a double and a three RBIs as host St. Joseph knocked off Our Lady of Mercy, 14-0.

Baseball

Corey Kreston had three hits to set Eastern's single-season hit record in a 12-0 win over visiting Timber Creek in the Camden County Tournament final. His 44 hits break the record set by Pat Monaghan in 2005. Alex Schwartz picked up the win, tying the school record with nine in a season.
