The Panthers kept the Rams out of the end zone three times on two-point conversion attempts, as Palmyra won, 21-18, at Riverside in a West Jersey Football League Freedom Division game.
"We've been out there giving up points," Geisel said of his defense on two-point attempts this season. "We came to play on the two-point play."
The defense also provided the winning score. Cameron Wallace recovered a third-quarter fumble and returned it 95 yards for a TD.
Kelvin Harmon hauled in two touchdown passes from Max Smyth. Harmon added 10 tackles on defense.
West Jersey Royal. Joseph Boose scored the eventual winning touchdown on a 52-yard run in the third quarter, and Cumberland edged host Woodrow Wilson, 20-19.
Allen Sharp hit Steven Whelan for a 5-yard TD pass. Maquay Richmond scored on a 2-yard run.
Colonial Patriot. Troy Shorts carried the ball 12 times for 105 yards and two touchdowns in Woodbury's 27-21 victory over visiting Haddon Township. He also caught a 26-yard pass and returned a fumble 80 yards for scores.
Cape-Atlantic American. Tyler Welch punched in the winning score from 3 yards as Absegami rallied from a 15-point deficit to beat host Vineland, 23-22. Isaih Pacheco threw for two touchdowns. Vinnie Nelson returned a punt 83 yards for a score.
A'Laam Horne finished with four rushing touchdowns as St. Joseph, ranked No. 1 in South Jersey by The Inquirer, beat Mainland, 46-7, at home. C.J. LaFragola added two touchdown runs. Salaam Horne scampered 63 yards for a score.
Cape-Atlantic National. Ahmir Mitchell ran for two touchdowns and caught a 23-yard pass for another in Cedar Creek's 46-0 shutout at Lower Cape May.
West Jersey Patriot. Marshe Terry caught a 40-yard touchdown pass in the first half for what proved to be the winning score as Northern Burlington beat Lawrence at home, 21-7.
