After opening up a two- goal lead with 15 minutes left, the Sterling boys' soccer team was well on its way to staying unbeaten with its sixth straight win on Monday.

Haddon Heights, however, had other plans.

The host Garnets scored three unanswered goals in the final 13 minutes and took down the Silver Knights, 3-2, in a nonleague game. The comeback gave Haddon Heights (1-1) its first win of the season and Sterling (5-1) its first loss.

Jesse Weick began the rally with a direct kick from 20 yards out with 13 minutes, 9 seconds remaining. Matt Schmidt, typically dominant with his right foot, then used his left to tie it up with 10:59 left. Jake Hourani one-timed a cross from Andrew Hicks to score the winner with 6:53 still on the clock.

"We're still trying to find our identity," said Haddon Heights coach Jeff Eppright. "To come back two goals down with 13 minutes left, it showed a lot of character."

In other nonleague action, Ryan Cleveland scored twice and C.J. Marchesani made 10 saves as St. Joseph won, 3-1, at Salem.

Tim Kharisov recorded a hat trick in Shawnee's 4-1 victory over visiting Timber Creek.

Ishmael Bokai, Kevin Hoxha, Nick Krake, and Austin Mecca were the goal scorers in host Cherry Hill West's 4-1 win against Seneca.

Matthew Mullock had two goals as Moorestown Friends blanked Riverside, 6-0, at home. Josh Murdy stopped five shots for the shutout.

Lou Vilotti netted two goals and dished out an assist in Washington Township's 7-0 win at Camden Catholic.

Danny Hampton had a hat trick and Eamon McCarren had the shutout in host Cherokee's 5-0 win over Bishop Eustace.
