Sat. S.J. boys' wrestling roundup: St. Augustine edges Shawnee in wrestling

St. Augustine won three of four close decisions in a nonleague wrestling battle with visiting Shawnee on Saturday, and escaped with a 33-30 thriller over the Renegades.

Tom Gattinella posted a 10-8 verdict at 113 pounds, Tyler Sentman won by 4-2 at 160 in a feature matchup against Austin Wetterau, and Cory Pietrzyk added a 5-3 decision in a 195-pound bout.

The Hermits added a technical fall by Steven Bergamo at 106. St. Augustine also posted a 47-30 victory over Winslow Township, and doubled up Maple Shade, 48-24.

In other nonleague action, Phillipsburg dominated the meeting of perennial powers by battering visiting Paulsboro, 63-9. The Red Raiders got wins from Ronald Gentile (132), and John Gentile (106).

Five of Delsea's eight wins in a 40-23 triumph at Absegami were pins, including first-period falls by Kevin Huck (106), Victor DeFrance (145) and Bryan Dobzanski (195). The Crusaders also whipped Middle Township, 69-6, with back-to-back pins in 1:59 by John Hennelly (132) and Dylan Recinto (138).

Cinnaminson's Sam Udotong came through with three decisions at 138 pounds, and Jason Bowen added a pin, a decision and a technical fall at 126 as the Pirates swept a quad meet at Cherry Hill West with a 39-25 win over the Lions, a 43-21 success against Eastern and a 61-11 romp over Bishop Eustace.

Host Timber Creek, ranked No. 5 in the state by The Star-Ledger, handed No. 12 Bound Brook a 32-24 setback, as Marques Jenkins (220) and Schalor Blackshear (Hwt.) had first-period pins in the upper weights, and brothers Bryce (160) and Robert Shade (170) scored key decisions.

Pennsville swept a quad meet on its home mats with a 53-9 win over Paul VI, a 45-15 victory over Oakcrest and a 53-20 verdict against Burlington Township. For the hosts, Colton Newsome (160) registered three pins, Earl Small (195) had a pin and two technical falls, and Adain Feliciano (138), Dylan Robbins (145) and Cody Dooley (Hwt.) each had two pins and a decision.

Seneca's Kyle O'Neill (132), Jordan Peoples (138) and Nick Moore (170) each had two pins and a decision in a quad-meet sweep at home.
