Zach Curl had a goal and an assist in the first half, and Haddon Township's veteran defense took over in the second half to lead the Hawks past Point Pleasant Beach, 2-1, on Tuesday night in a NJSIAA State Group 1 boys' soccer semifinal at St. Augustine.

Haddon Township (22-3) will face Waldwick in the state final on Sunday, 4 p.m., at The College of New Jersey. Waldwick played Glen Ridge to a scoreless tie through regulation and two overtimes before advancing, 5-4, on penalty kicks.

Freshman Mario Mandusco took a feed from Curl and buried a shot just 3 minutes, 30 seconds into the match.

Curl provided the game-winner with 15:58 to go in the first half when he deposited a pass from Kevin Griese.

Junior goalkeeper Brendan Anderson made the lead stand up, turning aside five shots and getting plenty of defensive support from sweeper Robert Mounce and his fellow seniors Collin Andrew, Logan Murray and Griese.
