Burlington Township overcame the elements and host Pemberton on Saturday, using a balanced ground game to win the West Jersey League interdivision football game, 24-12.

Both teams' aerial attacks were nullified by rain, snow and blustery winds, but Township quarterback Brian Verbitski put his legs to good use - rushing for 110 yards and two touchdowns, including the clinching 35-yard jaunt with 25 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

Verbitski's backfield mate, Mike Thomas, ran for 120 yards and a pair of first-quarter TDs that were set up by turnovers, staking the Falcons (6-2) to an early 12-0 lead.

Sultan Washington of Pemberton (4-3) was the game's leading rusher with 151 yards, and his two touchdown runs kept the Hornets close. But Pemberton's late bid to capture the lead ended when its drive stalled at the Falcons' 15-yard line.

Willingboro 28, Bordentown 0 - First-quarter touchdown runs by Tasai Clark and Joseph Dash enabled the Chimeras (4-3) to take command early and coast to the West Jersey League interdivision win at Bordentown (1-6).

Johnson Bradshaw and Eric Beckett added scoring runs in the second half to ensure Willingboro's second victory in its last five games.

Rancocas Valley 26, Nottingham 7 - John Wilson returned the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown, putting the Red Devils (5-2) on track for an easy home win over Nottingham (4-3) in a West Jersey League interdivision game.

Alec Finelli recovered a fumble in the end zone to send Rancocas Valley to the locker room with a 14-7 halftime lead, and Kelvin White added a pair of short-yardage TD runs in the second half.

Rancocas Valley forced five turnovers in posting its fifth consecutive victory.
